Nea Messagala or Mesaggala belongs to the Larissa Region and administratively to the Municipality of Tempi. It is 42 km from the city of Larissa, 45 km from the city of Katerini and Katerini beach.

The valley of Tempi is formed between Mount Olympus and Kissavos. It is 10 km long, while at its narrowest point a gorge is formed with a width of 25 and a depth of about 500 meters. The river Pinios runs through the valley, which then flows into the Aegean.
